The Moab community recently came together for a weekend of music and festivities under the full moon. Hosted by The Flamingo Stage, a collective of artists, musicians, healers, and humans based in Moab, hosted the event, which did not disappoint. With a nomadic nature, they throw events all over.
Upon arriving, attendees were welcomed by two vibey gentlemen at the gate. Although the line took a while, the welcoming at the gate by the Good Vibes Collective was well appreciated. They spoke with each car to enter and discussed the rules and expectations of guests on the land, creating a safe space and respecting the land.
With under 1,000 people in attendance, the festival had homey fest vibes, which allowed for attendees to get to know the whole camping community by the end of the weekend. I was lucky enough to have some amazing neighbors during the festival, and we had a great time together all weekend.
Workshops and sets filled the days, with several music genres, meditation, and a comedy show by Kit River. On Saturday, attendees participated in the Dirtbag Olympics, which included tug of war, cup pong, a joint rolling contest, and a cooking contest.
One standout workshop was lead by Kyle Leitzke, a visionary, coach, nomadic yogi, and friend to many. It was a safe space where participants had facilitated discussions on a topic that dug deep into one's psyche, followed by a sound bath meditation. My personal experience was filled with euphoria and deep fulfillment.
Saturday night had a more housey vibe than Friday night, with local Moab DJ Redfoot playing and getting the crowd grooving. He was followed by Houseium and DJ Aaron + Friends.
Overall, the Flamingo Stage and Good Vibes Collective created a magical and welcoming environment for the Full Moon Hootenanny. With their emphasis on community, safety, and respect for the land, attendees were able to fully immerse themselves in a weekend of music, workshops, and festivities. The small and intimate nature of the event allowed for meaningful connections to be made, and for participants to engage in a variety of activities that catered to their interests. The Hootenanny proved to be a unique and unforgettable experience, one that should not be missed by anyone seeking an opportunity to connect with others in a beautiful and welcoming setting.
