The Great Dilemma: Hippie Sabotage - Concerts Versus Festivals - Which Reigns Supreme?

Jesyah White

For music enthusiasts, the question of whether concerts or festivals are better always lingers. While both offer unique experiences, in my opinion, concerts have a better atmosphere 8 out of 10 times, and Hippie Sabotage proves just that.

At the Bonnaroo Music Festival, there was an abundance of chaos. While some may find this enjoyable, it can detract from the music. The crowd was non-stop crowd surfing, weed smoking, and general hootenanny. Initially, the crowd surfing was fun, but it soon became overwhelming, with feet and body parts constantly in my face. While this might be a great way to get closer to the stage if you're at the back of the crowd, for those in the middle and front, it became a chore by the end.

However, at "The Signal," where Hippie Sabotage played, there was minimal crowd surfing. This could be due to the venue's house rules, but it allowed the music to be more immersive.

Despite the lack of chaos, the energy of Hippie Sabotage was electric. The artists always seemed to make their way into the crowd, which was excellent for crowd work and maintaining the energy.

One interesting aspect of a Hippie Sabotage performance is their use of the phrase "I don't give a f*** what." This seems to be a recurring motto at some of their sets and adds to the overall edginess and rawness of their performances.

One word of caution, if you don't want to get wet, don't stand in the front! During both sets, at Bonnaroo and The Signal, the artist threw water into the crowd, which was quite refreshing but left many fans soaked.

Overall, I would highly recommend attending a Hippie Sabotage concert. While their performance at Bonnaroo was enjoyable, the setting can be distracting for those who are there to focus solely on the music. At "The Signal", their performance was much more immersive and allowed the music to shine. So, if you have the chance to see Hippie Sabotage live, don't miss it!
